Sometimes things would just be so much easier if life came with a handbook.
My relationships aren’t like they could be… I’m addicted to (insert instant gratification here)… Who ever showed me how to do this!?
And thats the thing. Sometimes we don’t have people to show us how to do it. We have to figure it out, without the help from another person.
But what if there was something like that which could help us?
I think that something exists. What do you think that something is?
As a human… things can get pretty complicated. We tend to unintentionally make things harder on ourselves. Things shouldn’t always have to be that way. But sometimes they are.
We should definitely strive for perfection (hypocrite speaking), but know that it’s impossible to be perfect so long as we are here as people.
We will mess up. Things will get crappy. Bad stuff happens to good people. On a positive note: We don’t have to be perfect.
Do you remember that ‘something’ I mentioned from earlier? I personally know that something to be Jesus Christ.
I’m not a perfect Christian, and my life doesn’t currently represent how a Christian person should act.
You know one of the many things I like about Him?
No matter how many times I mess up… no matter how many time I do the wrong thing… or say the wrong words… its okay. It’s okay because He saves me from myself.
All of the messed up things that you do, cannot simply be controlled with willpower.
There’s more to it than that. Something unseen to our eyes.
The only strength that is powerful enough to save me from myself is the mighty strength of Jesus Christ. It is Him who saves us from temptation, and from utter self destruction.
I know one thing for sure. I certainly wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for God. He’s been there for me in times where I was convinced He wasn’t.
When we mess up and do the wrong things, we are forgiven because He died for that exact reason. To save us from the penalty of DEATH, the penalty for our sins.
Now you might be thinking “Well He always forgives us when we mess up, so it doesn’t really matter if we mess up does it?”
It matters. Look at it this way…
We are forgiven for all the messed up things we do and that is awesome!
But since we are forgiven, we better do our best to try and live lives that are closer to the perfect example Jesus Christ was for us.
I cannot repay God. But I will try until the end of my days to walk in the foot steps of Him as closely as possible.
He gives me hope and faith that things will change. That this dark winter of my life WILL pass. That things don’t always have to be the way they are right now.
That I don’t have to have the strength necessary to meet all of my goals. Because He has all the strength we would ever need.
Now thats cool.
